Five of My Guilty Pleasures

Life gets so hectic at times - we forget to take care of ourselves.  I have been blessed with the opportunity to work on creating my own business during the past three months.  Well I tell you ~ this working from home and starting a business is NOT for the faint of heart!  I have found that I have a really hard time balancing everything working from home - chores become intertwined with creating.......before I know it ~ the day is gone.

I've been eating, living, breathing, trying to create product........I wake up thinking about it........go to sleep thinking about it..........and quite frankly haven't been taking very good care of myself!  So I dedicate this next week to indulging in at least one of my guilty pleasures each day.

Five of my Guilty Pleasures:

(1)  Marshmallow Creme (by itself or just about anything)

Well there you have it.....five of my guilty pleasures ~ I'll let you know how it goes.  What are some of your "guilty pleasures"?

“In the best of times, our days are numbered anyway. So it would be a crime against nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly, that it put off enjoying those things for which we were designed in the 1st place: the opportunity to do good work, to enjoy friends, to fall in love, to hit a ball, and to bounce a baby.” ~ Alistair Cooke ~

Scarves Completed for Bridge and Beyond

I have finally completed a little project I've been working on........I crocheted a few scarves to send to "Bridge and Beyond" http://homelessbridge.blogspot.com/ -  which is located in Columbus, Ohio.   Ms. Sandy and her group deliver socks, scarves, hats, and mittens to the homeless in Ohio.  I think this is just simply AWESOME -

Their Mission Statement:

Our Mission is to warm men and women living under a bridge in cold Central Ohio. Homeless people need our help! Hand knit, and crocheted hats, mittens, and scarves are needed ALL YEAR long. Hats, mittens, and scarves are also needed for women and children treated in two free clinics in the area. Hats, mittens, scarves, and slippers for women and children who are homeless and or abused at Faith Mission. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, one stitch at a time.

For more information on this great act of kindness happening - visit their website at http://homelessbridge.blogspot.com/ or email Sandy at sandycrochet@gmail

If you crochet or know of someone who crochets please pass this information on.  If you do not crochet - you can also help by sending socks or personal care items.

"The Heart of Life"

Fall is officially here ....... maybe it doesn't quite feel like it with temps in the upper 90's and even reaching into the 100's here in the sultry South. But it is HERE....Fall......one of my favorite seasons - but a season that always makes me reminisce.....this year I seem to be remembering things from my childhood such as.....

afternoon naps with my grandmother ~ playhouses made of dirt floors and trees serving as dividers for rooms (we had mansions - I tell you!) ~ mud pies ~ pedal cars ~

paper dolls (the kind cut out from magazines or catalogs) ~ Bonanza ~
the slinky ~ spinning tops ~ jacks ~ mexican jumping beans ~ special walks in the "grove" to find the best colored leaves ~

Red Rover Red Rover ~ Nancy Drew Books ~

 Fields and Fields of snow white cotton ~ four-o-clocks ~ hydrangea's ~

apple fights in the apple orchard ~ the grocery man (a couple of times a month he would come by and you could purchase your groceries from the truck) ~

swimming in the TN river on the Natchez Trace ~
swinging so high that I thought if I got just a little higher......I could really touch the sky....

and my very favorite memory of all.......sitting at my grandmother's feet with my head resting on her lap......she would rub my hair and sometimes sing songs to me (I continued this routine up into my adult life!)..........although, she has been gone for twenty years - I still miss her  - especially during the  Fall ~ she gave love unconditionally

What's some of your special memories?

Childhood is the most beautiful of all life's seasons.  ~Author Unknown

Much love to you all and wishing you nothing but those sunshiny kinda days.

Cobweb Cleaning in Order

Yesterday - we had a little get together for my Mom's 80th birthday.
It was so wonderful to have so many of my loved ones in one room.
I'm so ashamed of myself.......so ashamed I find myself blogging at 4 a.m.

This verse from the Bible is weighing greatly on my heart this morning.....

Luke 10: 38-42 ~ 38"Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, "which also sat at Jesus feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone/ bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her".

I missed a wonderful opportunity today.....I missed the "good part" ~ to just sit and visit with family and friends - to soak in what they were saying

Instead........I was in a "whirlwind" - worrying about on to the next event - food being served......cake time now.......opening presents........

While people were talking to me.......I was thinking about the next item on the agenda........some I just walked away in mid-conversation

Please forgive me......this is a day I will never have back........wasting my time WORRYING.....what a foolish......foolish girl

I hope to make this up to those friends and family I love so dearly.......maybe by a letter or maybe even a one on one lunch........

Eye opener at this event for me - I've got to slow down.....enjoy these moments.

Just a little forewarning friends and family.......a Christmas get together is in the works......

SIMPLICITY.........AND I PROMISE TO SIT AND LISTEN WITH MY HEART

I don't want to be a Martha in a "Mary world" anymore
I need to be still and listen.....

Much love to you all............
